To establish the largest memorial event in the history of the state, with the participation of hundreds of bereaved and hostage families, survivors of the massacre and captivity, Israel’s finest artists, and the general public.
The National Memorial Ceremony of the October 7th families will be this year the only national event marking October 7th and the Iron Swords War.
It will be the only statement coming from Israel as a message to the world on the day of the massacre.
This year, even more so, there is importance to holding the ceremony, shaping the memory, and our responsibility to tell the story—a true story of abandonment, pain, heroism, and hope.
The ceremony will be held with an audience present and broadcast live on all major television channels, radio networks, and leading news sites in Israel, as well as at organized screening points for communities around the world.
On the first anniversary of the disaster, the Kumu movement initiated for the first time the National Memorial Ceremony held at Yarkon Park.
The ceremony was produced by the bereaved families from October 7th and the Iron Swords War and received unprecedented public support in Israel. It became the central event marking the disaster and is considered a defining and historic event in shaping national memory and the most significant advocacy event for October 7th around the world.
The ceremony gave expression to all victim communities and all populations in the social fabric of the State of Israel, and thus emphasized values of memory, unity, mutual responsibility, and hope.
